Boo - BBF Halloween Hop!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Welcome to the Bento Bloggers and Friends Halloween Blog Hop!  Today I am sharing this frightfully fun lunch that can be made in a matter of minutes!
The ghost sandwiches were made using a tulip shaped cookie cutter which I turned upside down and removed the stem.  I was able to make both ghosts out of one regular sandwich with very little waste.  Actually no waste, as I used the left-over scraps in my own lunch.  The pumpkins are a single Clementine Cutie orange split in half.  I used nori paper for the accents on the ghosts and the pumpkins.  My full moon is a golden beet, and the cemetery is mini Goldfish crackers.  I added green leaf lettuce, grape tomatoes and a few Halloween picks, and in about 5 minutes total time, the lunch was complete!

Leftovers for Lunch

Happy Monday!  One of my favorite lunches to pack, and also one of the quickest, is leftovers.  I've blogged about what my family calls Wolfeatouille before, and I continue to regularly make this dish to use up bento scraps and small amounts of leftover ingredients from our week.  It is always delicious, and always provides us with more than enough food to cover a couple of meals!  Easily dressed up with a fun piece of toast or veggies, this go-to meal makes for a perfect lunch!
What's in the Box?
Wolfeatouille, Whole Grain Toast (cut using CuteZCute CuddlePalz)
Baby Carrots, Pluots, Black Olives, Strawberries

Child Made Lunch!

My son loves to help in the kitchen and has decided he wants to start making his own lunch once a week.  I think that is FANTASTIC!!  What a fun way to ingrain healthy choices and eating habits in him!  This was his first "Made By Me" lunch, and he was so excited about it!
Made_By_Me
We started by talking about how to build a balanced meal.  I pulled out a variety of foods and allowed him to choose what he wanted to include using the information we had discussed.  He chose what to pack and made the lunch entirely by himself.  He ate most of it at lunch and was excited to have a little leftover for his snack later in the afternoon.

Back to School Bear Lunch

Making a cute and fun lunch for your kids doesn't have to be complicated or take a lot of time.  With the help of some inexpensive decorative cutters, a fun bento box and just a few minutes, I was able to transform this standard sandwich lunch into something my kids adored!  Rolling the turkey took longer than the entire rest of the lunch, but even with that it took me less than 10 minutes to make both lunches!  Cute and fast = double win!

Rock the Lunchbox...Again!

It's hard for me to believe that it's that time of year again already.  Can you believe that summer is over and it's time to head BACK TO SCHOOL?

Every year, parents across the country struggle to know what to do for their children's school lunches.  Buy them at school?  Pack them at home?  If the latter is chosen, what do you pack it in, and what food do you pack?  Overwhelmed yet?

Once again, Rock the Lunchbox has come to the rescue!  Annie's, Applegate, Honest Kids, Organic Valley, Stonyfield and Rudi's Organic Bakery have teamed up to bring you just the inspiration you need going into this new school year!  Check out www.rockthelunchbox.com for tons of ideas to keep you out of the lunch packing rut all year long!!

One great tip is to let your children be involved.  Whether you are taking them shopping and letting them help pick out groceries, allowing them to assist you in putting the lunch together, or letting them choose that special lunch or bento box, giving them some input goes a long way in keeping them excited about lunch!  I asked my kindergartner to draw me a picture of his perfect lunch.  His drawing is below, followed by the lunch I made using his picture for inspiration.

What's in the Box?
Turkey & Provolone Panda Sandwiches (made using CuteZCute AnimalPalz Cutter)
Golden Cherry Tomatoes and Snap Peas w/ Ranch for Dipping
Fresh Strawberries, Strawberry YoKids Yogurt Tube, Annie's Cheddar Bunnies
